Elder and Sister Bednar conducted a conference with missionaries in the South American Southern region. In the Q&A session, a sister missionary asked Elder Bednar how he managed to deal with staying humble and dependent upon God. Instead of answering personally, Elder Bednar invited Sister Bednar to respond. She gives an autobiographical account of her life and trails at each of the major steps that Elder Bednar had along his ascension to become an Apostle. She is honest and vulnerable about her own trials during these times and in relating her feelings provides an opportunity to learn about the concept of “Doctrine Over Self” and how controlling groups impose this concept in the lives of their members.
